Perfect Fit

Twenty-three years ago today, my wife and I stood at Pebble Beach in front of twenty-eight of our closest friends and family and vowed to build a life together.  It was easily the greatest decision of my life.  We are both smart and strong, and we are very different from one another.  But we complement one another in ways that make the union stronger than the simple sum of our individual strengths.

When we were traveling in the Seattle area last week, I saw a perfect anniversary card.  The message was:

Marriage requires commitment.

So does insanity.

I bought the card, and have been looking forward to giving it to my wife today.  She opened the card, burst out in laughter, and handed me a card.  I opened it, and burst out laughing myself.  The message on the card my wife had purchased for me was:

Marriage requires commitment.

So does insanity.

We are a very good match.
