A View of Ever-Changing Europe

I saw the most interesting video today.  It was a time-lapse of the map of Europe, from 1150 to now.  Since we tend to think of national boundaries as fixed and immutable, it is good to see just how much things have changed in the past 1000 years.  It is also sobering to think of how much suffering and how many deaths caused (and were caused by) those many, many changes in the map.  Think about this map as you read the news coverage about Ukraine, Crimea, Iraq, …
