Texas Gets Big Win in Space Business

Texas is already a major player in space – it is the home of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, which controls all manned space flight. Now, Texas is moving into commercial space in a big way, too.

SpaceX, the company that Elon Musk leads in his spare time, has decided to build a major launch complex in Cameron County, Texas.  The plan is to use the new Texas facility for commercial launches of the SpaceX rockets – currently the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy.  Launches under contract to NASA will continue to originate at Cape Canaveral in Florida.
