Venus and the Moon Share a Spectacular Close Encounter (Photo)
On sunday, September 8, the Moon and Venus appeared to nearly touch when viewed from earth.
This photo comes from Paulo Crozariol in Brazil. He used a Panasonic HDC – TM 900 camera to take the photo.
Venus and the moon shared what astronomers call a “conjunction,” when two celestial objects appear near each other when viewed from Earth. The Venus-moon sight occurred about 45 minutes after sunset on Sunday (Sept. 8) in what was their closest encounter of the northern summer, fall or winter.
