Regulation needed for Venture Capital?

A business columnist for The San Jose Mercury News, Chris O’Brien,  had an interesting piece this morning about potential regulation of the venture capital industry.  Most VCs will automatically fight any regulation simply because the industry has never been regulated.

Today, I reproduce the piece by Chris O’Brien in its entirety (You can find it online at O’Brien: Venture capital needs transparency, not regulations – San Jose Mercury News).  Tomorrow, I will post my own thoughts on the subject, based on my work in the venture capital industry during these past ten years, and my previous time as the CFO of a public company – where much of the job was dealing with SEC regulatory issues.

For today, here is Chris O’Brien’s thoughtful piece on potential regulation
